Jim Balsillie, co-CEO of RIM, has captured 44 of 122 votes to become “Canada’s 2009 Business Newsmaker of the Year” by the Canadian Press. Even though RIM added millions of new subscribers in 2009, released several new devices, setted issues with the Ontario Securities Commission and entered into new markets… the most memorable event is not his accomplishments in the core BlackBerry business but his failed quest to bring another NHL team back to Southern Ontario.
