OS 2.1 makes up over 55% of Android devices

We conducted a quick poll the other day to see how popular Android-powered devices are getting in Canada – a whopping 70% of you said that their next device will be an Android. Today Google released some numbers of where the current OS distribution is of people accessing the Android Market. In Canada we are all over the map when it comes to the Android OS, some are stuck at 1.5, 1.6 and others are fortunate to be at 2.1.

Google states that 55% of Android devices are now powered by Android 2.1 (Eclair), Android 1.6 (Donut) is 22.1%, Android 1.5 (Cupcake) has 18.9% and finally the recently released Android 2.2 is already at Froyo 3.3%. It would be cool to see it on a country device breakdown too.
