TELUS to release the BlackBerry Bold 9780 October 21st

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 has been put on TELUS’ end of life status (EOL) which only means one thing. A new device is coming soon and that chosen smartphone is the BlackBerry Bold 9780.

We’ve seen pics and videos of this in the past and RIM has made some important changes to this model, namely adding a 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash, 512MB of RAM (increased from 256MB), a 2.4-inch display (resolution of 480×360), WiFi, GPS, 624 MHz processor and the new BlackBerry 6 OS with the WebKit browser.

It’s been rumoured that the 9780 would be launching sometime in October… and thanks to one of our tipsters for letting us know the date is set to hit TELUS on Thursday, October 21st. No word on pricing yet.

UPDATE: Looks like a video has now surfaced by The Cellular Guru that’s about 30 seconds in length that shows a TELUS branded Bold 9780 in action, check it out after the break.
