SaskTel rolls out new “Wireless Device Protection Plan”

Majority of all the carriers have a device protection plan. Rogers has the “Handset Protection Guarantee”, TELUS has their “Device Protection Plan” and Bell has the “Smart/Phone Care” program. Today SaskTel has joined them by announcing their “Wireless Device Protection Plan”.

This is an optional insurance that can run you either $6 or $7 per month (depending on the value of your device and it’ll be added to your monthly bill). According to their website the insurance does not cover “Normal wear and tear and cosmetic damage” but does cover: “accidental damage, loss, theft, and malfunction (after the manufacturer’s warranty expires)”. In addition, you can only make 2 claims within a 12 month period. When you do file a claim you’ll need to dish out a “deductible ranging from $75 to $225”
