Rogers and Pandigital sign agreement; uploading pics wirelessly to a digital frame coming soon

Rogers foray into the machine-to-machine (M2M) market is coming on strong. They announced a few weeks ago that trials are currently happening with both the City of Ottawa to remotely monitor traffic lights and Toronto Hydro to track electricity usage. In addition, the “Rogers Smart Home Monitoring” will be rolling out in 2011… all these services can be accessed and managed through smartphones.

Next on the list is an exclusive agreement between Pandigital and Rogers. Early next year customers will be able to wirelessly upload their photos to Pandigital Photo Mail Digital Photo Frames. According to the Pandigital site there are “No Cables. No WiFi. No Setup… As each Photo Mail Frame features a unique email address, photos can be sent directly to the frame with no complicated setup, no difficult syncing and no confusing WiFi connection. Just send the pre-assigned email to friends and family and let the fun begin.”

Cool idea for Rogers to grab hold of… surprising that TELUS didn’t snatch this up as it would fit perfectly with their Black’s Photo arrangement. No word on how Rogers will be pricing this but AT&T in the States currently has this priced at $119.99 for the frame and includes the ability to receive 60 photos.

Mansell Nelson, Vice President, M2M and Partners, Rogers Communications stated “Canadians are looking for new ways to stay connected to family and friends, colleagues and customers like they never have before and we are excited to work with companies like Pandigital to deliver these experiences to them. As the provider of choice in Canada, we are powering all points of connection for M2M solutions to bring emerging devices such as the Pandigital Photo Mail Digital Photo Frame to Canadians.”
