18.6% of Android devices run OS 2.3 Gingerbread

Google has once again updated the charts that show the percentage of the different Android OS versions. Android 2.2 Froyo is still the OS that’s running on most Android devices at 59.4%, but that dipped by almost 5% from last month. As for Gingerbread (OS 2.3+), this desired OS is catching up fast and now makes up for 18.6%, it was only 9.2% a few weeks ago and with all the new devices launching it will be interesting to see next month (Sensation, Galaxy S II, Incredible S, Xperia Play and arc). As for tablet sales, Android 3.0 and 3.1 both give a good indication of how they are doing. Currently sitting 0.9%, up slightly from 0.3%.
