Rogers to release a Rogers on Demand app for tablets

Rogers recently re-branded their “Rogers On Demand” mobile app to “Rogers Live”, this gives those who pay the monthly $5 subscription fee the option to watch streaming video on either the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android smarthone (TV shows, video clips, sports etc..).

It now seems that Rogers is getting ready to push out an iPad or an Android version of the service. According to this internal doc it says that Rogers customers (wireless and cable) will be able to browse, search and play a limited selection of video, but the future version is where the goods are all at. The next release will include the ability to rent movies (additional subscription), watch live content or events and watch “content via syndicated players”. In addition, the first launch will be in English with French coming in the update. Probably what will make the app success – apart from knowing how much the subscription will cost – is the social aspect to it. The future release will allow customers to “Discover RODO” where you can have a sample of what you want to watch before registering, also the ability to share and rate a video.

There’s no indication of when this will be available.
We’ll have more info soon!
