Ice Cream Sandwich hops onto the HTC Hero, thanks to XDA

The Hero has not been forgotten! XDA developers have come through and resurrected this once popular HTC handset by giving it some Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich love. Albeit, not everything is working yet in this alpha version, but progress is happening. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth are working, calling is somewhat scattered and users are reporting that 3G connectivity is operational.
