LG promises Android 4.0 update for Optimus Black, Optimus 3D and Optimus 2X

The hoards of phone buyers who decided to buy non-Nexus devices have been persistently questioning the various manufacturers to see if they will be bringing the latest Android update to their phones. LG is the latest such company to promise an update, this time for the popular Optimus Black, Optimus 3D and Optimus 2X.

While it can be taken for granted that Android 4.0 would come dual core-equipped devices such as the Optimus 3D and 2X, the Black runs a fairly old single-core processor, slower even than the Hummingbird SoC in the Nexus S. That Ice Cream Sandwich would be able to run without issue on such a device indicates perhaps that extra glitz and glamour doesn’t require extra power.

The company says it will look into updating the rest of its Android line, including lower-end devices, in the coming weeks, and will give another update in December. We can also take for granted that LG’s newest device, the powerful Optimus LTE, will receive the update sooner than later.
