Galaxy S II i9100 gets leaked Ice Cream Sandwich firmware, doesn’t look quite ready

The Galaxy S II i9100 is the variant Bell picked up in July but in wider circles it’s known as the international variant of the phone. It is still the only device in the Galaxy S II line with Samsung’s own Exynos processor, and has aged extremely well despite premiering first.

Now, if you’re into leaked firmwares, SamMobile has obtained an early, and I repeat, early version of the upcoming Android 4.0 upgrade. At first glance it looks to be identical to Gingerbread because they’re using the same TouchWIZ 4 launcher, but upon delving a bit further you can see Samsung has kept intact the menus, browser and most other areas of the OS. An ugly orange outline appears whenever something is pressed, and there is no fit or finish anywhere on the product.

Suffice it to say, if you’re brave enough to withstand some app crashes, instabilitiy and frequent random reboots, go get your first taste of Ice Cream Sandwich for the Galaxy S II i9100. Oh, and you have to be rooted first and know your way around a custom ROM. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…
