CyanogenMOD surpasses one million active users

The venerable custom Android ROM CyanogenMOD just passed a huge milestone: one million active users.

Built from the Android Open Source Project and customized for over 60 individual devices across many manufacturers, the project is one of the most successful examples of collaborative community building in the open source world. It has received significant upgrades throughout its life, from an early version of Android 1.5 to a nearly-finished version of Android 4.0.

Most users are still using the Gingerbread version of the ROM, since it is stable across all devices, while Ice Cream Sandwich is only available so far for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S.

Congratulations to the retinue of developers making CyanogenMOD such a great success!
