RCMP serves “Counterfeit Product Notice” to London business for selling fake cellphone cases, seizes $15,000 worth of inventory

The RCMP has thrown the hammer down to an unnamed London, Ontario-based business by serving them with a “Counterfeit Product Notice” – so they are not charged with a criminal offence. Apparently this shopping mall vendor was selling selling fake cellphone cases, specifically bearing the branding from Coach, Burberry, Louis Vuitton, Blackberry and Apple. In total the RCMP seized $15,000 worth of inventory and wanted to send the message to all the other vendors, plus attempt to locate the manufacturers, that doing this type of activity is illegal. The mounties stated that it’s “an offence in Canada to sell and distribute merchandise bearing unlicensed or unregistered trademarks without the permission of the trademark owner”.
