RIM exec says “We’re planning on releasing OS 2.0 on the 21st”

The earlier rumour of RIM officially launching the very anticipated BlackBerry PlayBook upgrade to OS 2.0 on February might be true. During a BlackBerry NDK 2.0 webcast this afternoon apparently one of the RIM reps, possibly Angel Aldana from RIM Latin America, stated that “We’re planning on releasing OS 2.0 on the 21st”. Certainly long awaited and good news for those looking to get all the new features. Of course, the key word in the sentence is “planning”, so anything can happen. At the very latest RIM promised 2.0 by the end of February.

What’s very interesting is their stock price. It’s currently up over 3.5% today and jolted up about $0.25 around 1:00pm when the news the PlayBook OS 2.0 upgrade broke.

Bring it RIM.
