Tethered jailbreak available for iOS 5.1 on A4-based devices

Older devices such as the iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4rd generation has been immune to Apple’s continued attempts at thwarting jailbreaks, as the hardware contained an exploitable hole that developers have been using to continually break through.

Though the jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is currently tethered only, meaning you will have to plug in your iDevice and re-jailbreak it every time you reboot, it’s currently the best option for those who don’t want to say goodbye to their Cydia store.

Unfortunately this won’t work on newer iPhone 4S and iPad 2 models, as the A5 chip contains no such exploitable bugs.
