HTC gives an update on where the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade is

The list of HTC devices that will eventually be graced with Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is a decent sized one. HTC already stated that the HTC Sensation 4G will be getting ICS “by the end of March”, and that the Raider (Bell and Rogers), Amaze 4G, EVO 3D, Incredible S, and Desire HD will also get the upgrade sometime “later this year”. The downside is that we still don’t have a clear Canadian date as to when the official update for each device will drop.

HTC gave a slight update this morning, stating on their blog that the Sensation 4.0 upgrade will “will be more widely available in the next few weeks”, more more importantly for us Canadians that “The update for the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow”. So the good news is that it’s coming, just not specifically sure as to the number of weeks we’ll have to wait. In addition, HTC says they are working with all carriers to nail down update schedules for Ice Cream Sandwich.

“As for timing, we’re in the early stages of rolling out Android 4.0 for the HTC Sensation and HTC Sensation XE and upgrades will be more widely available in the next few weeks. The update for the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XL will follow. Please note, once we start pushing out updates it will take time for all carriers in each country to get the update. We are working closely with our carrier partners to nail down update schedules for our other smartphones and will have more to share very soon.”
