Windows Phone 7 SDK updated to support Tango devices with 256MB RAM

The Windows Phone 7 SDK has been updated to version 7.1.1, giving a boost to developers looking to create apps optimized for devices with only 256MB RAM. Those would be devices such as the upcoming Nokia Lumia 610, which should broaden the appeal of Windows Phone to developing nations.

In addition, the update allows devs to build against the latest version of Windows Phone, build 8773, which adds a number of new APIs and features. Differentiating between emulating for devices that have 256MB and 512MB of RAM is simply a drop-down menu away.

The SDK has also been updated to run on Windows 8, the upcoming desktop operating system from Microsoft.
