Android 4.0.4 for Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S confirmed to be rolling out to some Canadians

Don’t take this as evidence of a surge, but we’re getting reports of a few Canadians who have received the Android 4.0.4 update over the air, as Google promised last week. We’re not sure whether these are yakju or yakjux devices (since Google controls updates of the former, and Samsung the latter) but we’re betting that many more users are going to start getting the update in the coming weeks.

This version fixes many of the issues users experienced in 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 including random reboots, poor battery and a general sluggishness in certain apps. Unlike carrier-certified updates, Nexus phones are updated directly, without carrier intervention, so it won’t matter on which network you are using the Galaxy Nexus.

Update: We’re also hearing that some Nexus S i9020A users are receiving their Android 4.0.4 updates as well.

Have you received the update yet?

(Thanks Jamil!)
