Samsung to open retail store in Canada

Last week UK retailer Phones 4u and Samsung partnered up and opened a retail store on Oxford Street. In Canada, TELUS is doing something similar by making Samsung a key role in their locations by branding themselves as the “Galaxy Headquarters”. There is dedicated space and TELUS employees are fully equipped to inform potential customers of the latest Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The same is occurring at Bell’s Eaton Centre location as they have space that showcases what your home could look like with it being connected via tablets, smartphones and TV’s via Samsung’s All Share.

According to an article in the Financial Post, Samsung Canada is planning to open at least one retail location “later this year”, plus roll out more of these “store-within-a-store” concepts. Plans are still being worked out as to the specific location, but early guesses are that it’ll be in Toronto’s Yorkdale Mall.

Samsung Canada president James Politeski said that “We definitely want consumers to experience the Samsung brand in a way that they have not experienced it before. We want them to see everything that Samsung can bring to them … we want to give consumers the opportunity to experience the brand and the products in a way that they’ve never seen before, that really takes that experience up.”

Apple has the Apple Store, now well over 20 locations across Canada. Sony is similar with their Sony Store. In addition, Microsoft also has plans to open a retail location in Toronto later this year.
