Sony releases Ice Cream Sandwich update for Tablet S

Sony has gone and released a long-awaited Android 4.0 update for its Tegra 2-powered Tablet S. This was one of our favourite Android tablets of last year, and the 9.4-inch slate is receiving some sizeable improvements to the whole experience.

We told you about the update last month, which brings extra lock screen functionality, better photography controls including a panorama mode, an overhauled gallery and something Sony is called “Small Apps,” widgets that are accessible from within any app.

Unfortunately for us Canadians, it doesn’t look like the $50 instant rebate is being offered as it is down south, but Sony is throwing in a free carrying pouch with the purchase of the tablet.

If you’re ready to upgrade, connect to WiFi and accept the update prompt. Check after the break for an introduction video to Ice Cream Sandwich on the Tablet S, and enjoy!
