Samsung Galaxy S III pre-orders reportedly reach 9 million

Our Canadian carriers are on tap to release the Samsung Galaxy S III sometime “this Summer.” So far confirmation has come from TELUS, Rogers, Bell, Virgin, WIND, Mobilicity, SaskTel and Videotron. There’s still no word if regional carriers MTS, nor Fido or Koodo will have this available when it’s officially launched.

To keep the anticipation high on this Android, the 8 confirmed carriers above have in one form or another posted a “coming soon” or “pre-register” sign up page on their website. There’s still no price revealed but everything should be announced in the next month.

According to the Korea Economic Daily, vai Reuters, the SG III global pre-order status has topped 9 million by over 100 global carriers. If true then Samsung is on a trajectory to blow past any previous flagship Galaxy S device – it previously took the original Galaxy and Galaxy S II between 2 -5 months to get to those levels. In addition, this possible 9 million units on the books will help Samsung get to their target of selling over 200 million smartphones in 2012.
