Sony Xperia S ICS upgrade captured on video

Another high-profile phone that shipped with Gingerbread, the Sony Xperia S, is to receive Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming weeks. Although it’s been delayed just a little bit longer it is expected to hit at the end of June. Community site SonyXP has obtained a pre-release version of Android 4.0.4 for the Xperia S, and it looks quite good so far.

The update retains much of the aesthetic goodness we enjoyed from the shipping software, but adds some nice usability tweaks, such as scrolling widgets, a lock screen camera shortcut, new gallery  and music player and, most importantly, speed improvements. While the leaked version still exhibits some hiccups when scrolling through home screens, it’s exciting to see what Sony has in store for us when the update hits by the end of Q2.

We’ll be doing a complete re-review of the device once ICS hits, so stay tuned for that.
