“Google Asus Nexus 7” tablet shows up on benchmark site, sports Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor and OS 4.1

Google launching a Nexus branded tablet has been circling for months. Recently ASUS has been pegged as the manufacturer and it seems all the pieces are coming together as some valid information has been found online. According to Android Police, via the Rightware benchmark result site, there’s a tablet listed with the name “Google Asus Nexus 7.”

The Google Asus Nexus 7 apparently goes by the code name of “grouper,” following past Android devices such as the Nexus One with Mahi-mahi, and the original G1 as trout. Another interesting takeaway is the build number: JRN51B. This again follows Google’s continuation of the OS versions with Honeycomb (3.2), Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and rumoured Jelly Bean being 4.1, not 5.0 as previously rumoured.

Next step is for this tablet to leak online, but we’ll most likely see this officially unveiled at Google I/O next month. However, this possibly confirms all the past rumours: Google Nexus tablet, check. Asus as the manufacturer, check. 7-inches, check. The Nexus 7 also shows that it’ll come with a resolution of 768 x 1280 and has a Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A9 processor.
