TELUS investing $650 million in Ontario, building out LTE coverage and hiring 900

TELUS is dropping a bunch of cash into Ontario. They have just announced that they plan on investing $650 million into the province over next three years and will expand LTE coverage, improve healthcare technology with their Health Network System, and hire 900 new employees (which is pretty awesome).

Specifically for the LTE rollout, TELUS stated in a press release that by 2015 they’ll reach 95% of the people in Ontario. This year we can expect them to rollout or expand LTE coverage in the following locations: Ottawa, Barrie, Windsor, Muskoka, Niagara area and Kingston. It was previously known that by the end of this year TELUS’ LTE coverage will reach 25 million Canadians. TELUS also noted that additional coverage in Ontario will happen, but depends if they’re “able to secure necessary wireless spectrum through Industry Canada’s upcoming spectrum auctions.”

Joe Natale, TELUS’ COO stated that “Technology is a foundation of a stronger provincial economy. These investments will help support growth across our wireline and wireless services, meeting the exponential demand for advanced communications technology that we see across the province, and indeed across the country. They’ll improve the reach and capacity of our network for existing business customers, and consumers.”
