Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver to equip all suites with iPads

The Fairmont Pacific Rim is equipping all 377 rooms of its Vancouver hotel with iPads. The devices will be locked down — not free to use like a regular tablet — and will use Intelity’s Interactive Customer Experience software to perform a number of functions that were previously only available by calling reception.

Guests will be able to make reservations for restaurants, order room service and housekeeping requests through the tablet. This practice is becoming increasingly popular in high-end hotels as visitors feel more comfortable using technology to perform basic functions. It also means that hotel can employ fewer staff members to wait for incoming calls.

The rollout, expected in July, will be accompanied by an ICE mobile app in which visitors to Vancouver can plan their trip.
