Microsoft Skydrive for Android announced, coming in a few weeks

Microsoft announced a new web version of Skydrive today, along with updated versions of the native app for Windows and OS X. But, to us, the most exciting announcement was that an Android version will be coming in the next few weeks. Utilizing a mix between Metro Windows 8 design and Android’s Holo guidelines, the app looks to have the ability to upload new documents, photos and media, and view them in a delightful media box.

You’ll also be able to share links to existing documents, photos and media from within the document. Microsoft says the app will be similar in functionality to the existing iOS and Windows Phone apps.

We’re looking forward to Skydrive for Android, which will compete with Dropbox, Sugarsync and, of course, Google Drive.
