LG has now sold 5 million LTE devices, will release “an even more impressive LTE line-up in the next several months”

Back in June LG announced they crossed over the 3 million sales mark for their LTE-enabled devices. Then on July 17th they passed over 4 million… so it seems they are growing at the million per month pace. Today the 5 million LTE sales milestone was reached, which LG notes they are selling “one LTE smartphone roughly every two and a half seconds.” The LTE lineup is currently 10 devices deep, but only one of them is available in Canada – that being the Bell and TELUS LG Optimus LTE. There’s no official word on Canadian sales numbers, but 2 million of them were the Optimus LTE, and the Optimus Vu has sold over 500,000 units.

Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile Communications said “Sales of global LTE smartphones are expected to increase ten-fold this year from last year. With that in mind, we are planning to introduce an even more impressive LTE line-up in the next several months second to none.”

The next LG flagship device to hit Canadian soil will be the Optimus 4X HD “this fall,”
