HTC Desire HD gets Ice Cream Sandwich the unofficial way

The Desire HD isn’t getting a piece of Ice Cream Sandwich, at least not officially, but leave it to the folks at XDA-Developers to make magic happen.

A ROM, based on the newest Android 4.0.4 update for the Incredible S (which should be hitting Canada soon) running Sense 3.6, has been adapted for the Desire HD, and everything seems to be working just fine. Called Blackout ICS Incredible, the ROM takes the stock features from the Incredible S and tweaks them for use on the larger Desire HD, though they both have similar hardware and screen resolutions. The ROM even comes with a kernel that supports overclocking so you can get the most out of your device.

If you’re rocking a Desire HD and want to taste a bit of Ice Cream Sandwich, head on over to XDA-Developers.
