Update: Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 coming in Q4 “in select focused markets”

The Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 will be coming to market some time this year, but Canadians may not see the device until next year. He says that the phones will launch in Q4 “in select focused markets,” which likely means, as it did for the Lumia 800, in Europe and Asia.

Stephen Elop says that Nokia will bring the Lumia to Canada with as many features intact as possible, including Navigation and City Lens, but as for a release date, he’s staying mum. One of the big omissions in the press conference today was any talk of LTE support, though the Snapdragon S4 processor explicitly supports the technology.

We’re sure that when the flagship Lumia 920 comes to Canada it will have LTE support, especially since the Lumia 900 was on the Rogers LTE network earlier this summer.

We’ll update you on specifics in the coming weeks and months, but like the Lumia 800 and 710, Canada will unlikely be among the first launch markets for the Lumia 920 and 820.

Update: We’ve heard back from Nokia Canada about the release of these WP8 devices and they’ve stated that “Nokia doesn’t comment on future launches so we have no information to share on Canadian availability.” In addition, they also confirmed that “Both phones will be available in global pentaband LTE and HSPA+ variants and are expected to start shipping in select markets later in the year. Nokia will announce pricing and specific roll-out dates country by country when sales are due to begin.” – IH
