Apple will launch iOS 6 on September 19th with new version of App Store

Apple will introduce its latest software version, iOS 6, on September 19th, two days before the release of the iPhone 5.

The software will be available for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 2, new iPad and iPod Touch 4G. Some older hardware, such as the 3GS, will not support some GPU-heavy features such as 3D Maps and Flyover.

iOS 6 will also launch with a new version of the App Store, with card-like app profiles and improved navigation. The silver colour scheme, which we’ve started seeing proliferating in recent Apple apps, will continue for the App Store redesign.

The update will be free for existing users. Apple is also launching a new version of iTunes for the desktop with improved navigation and easier controls. iTunes 11 will launch in late October.
