Update: Galaxy S III Jelly Bean upgrade to start rolling out in October, Canada will receive it in Q4

During Samsung’s “Unpacked” event at IFA they declared that Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 10.1 owners can expect to receive the OS upgrade to 4.1 “very soon.” They gave no word on timing, however, according to a post on CNET UK, Samsung stated “the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system will be available on the Galaxy S3 from October.” Still pretty vague, but slightly a bit clearer. Unfortunately, this is probably country specific and us Canadians will see the upgrade a few weeks later as all our carriers (Rogers, Bell, TELUS, WIND, Mobilicity, SaskTel, Videotron, Virgin) have to complete their internal testing. We’ve reached out to Samsung Canada for an estimated timing on when the Jelly Bean upgrade will land on our device.

Samsung recently announced that the Galaxy S III has topped 20 million in sales in 100 days, selling approximately 200,000 per day, and smashing their previous record of selling 20 million Galaxy S II’s in 10 months.

Update: We’ve heard from our sources that the GS III upgrade to OS 4.1 Jelly Bean will hit Canadian device “sometime in Q4.”
