Asus PadFone 2 spotted prior to announcement with radical new docking station, 4.7-inch display

The Asus PadFone was never released in Canada, and in fact was not widely released at all, but bears mention due to its unique hybrid design and docking station.

The phone/tablet’s upcoming sequel, the PadFone 2, is set to be announced in the coming week. But @evleaks and Bloomberg TV have given us the first glimpse into what may be a very cool product. With a radically-redesigned docking station, in which the phone sits on the outside of the tablet and “completes” the design, so to speak.

The PadFone 2 is said to have a 4.7-inch HD screen and improved internal hardware, while the docking station, like its predecessor, is able to charge the phone when docked. We’re hoping that the software is a bit more intuitive the second time around, as previous reviews spoke of awkward transitions between phone and tablet software.
