LG confirms Nexus 4 launch on October 29th, leaves out the number in the name

LG has confirmed that its Nexus device would be announced at a Google-hosted event on October 29th in New York City. LG’s head of mobile product planning in India, Amit Gujral, let slip to a crowd at a Vu launch party that it will bring the device to the Indian market soon. “Google will unveil the LG Nexus on October 29 and the phone will be available in the Indian markets by the end of November,” he said, firming up a barrage of rumours that have run rampant since the phone was leaked last month.

The interesting part of that quote is the lack of a number in the LG Nexus name, possibly indicating that there may not be a “4” at the end. Every Nexus device since its launch — One, S and Galaxy — have not been standalone products. It’s entirely possible that the upcoming Nexus could be called just LG Nexus, but it’s much more likely that it will be named Nexus 4.

Either way, the LG Nexus (4) is coming in exactly a week, and we couldn’t be more excited. We’re hoping that Google puts the device on sale, or at least opens pre-orders, the day it is announced, so as not to lose any momentum.

Are you holding off buying an Android device until the LG Nexus is announced, likely with Android 4.2?
