bus@toronto is a simple, Holo-designed TTC schedule app for Android

I’m constantly searching for great looking Holo-designed apps for Android. Not only do they look better on modern devices, but they’re usually less cluttered with hidden menus and inconsistent navigation choices.

bus@toronto is one such app for users frequenting Toronto’s often-fraught TTC system. While not as comprehensive as the previously-reviewed Transit Now Toronto, bus@toronto provides all the basic needs of a streetcar or bus user, including favourite stops, nearby stops and a comprehensive list of routes.

Not only can you search by stop number — a coding system used to check upcoming times via SMS — but the app digs into TTC’s free location API to provide nearby stops and the times for the next two of three vehicles. What’s missing from the app is a map feature, as nearby stops are merely conveyed in “x metres from you”, but otherwise the bus@toronto is very good at what it does.

Download bus@toronto from Google Play. It is free and ad-supported.
