Samsung Galaxy Camera coming to Canada on December 7th

We were pretty impressed with the Samsung Galaxy Camera when we had a brief hands-on with it in October. The device manages stay fairly compact while doubling as both a fully-fledged Android device and a compact point-and-shoot camera.

With a 16MP sensor and 21x optical zoom lens, the camera takes pretty good photos, though you won’t be replacing your DSLR or micro 4/3 shooter for this one. More importantly, it’s got 3G/WiFi connectivity, making it a truly “smart” device, especially when loaded up to the nines with Android apps.

To that end, the camera runs a 1Ghz quad-core Exynos processor, a 4.8-inch touch display and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Samsung will be selling the Galaxy Camera exclusively in Black’s Photography stores (owned by TELUS) as well as its Samsung Store, which is located in Burnaby, B.C. Pricing has not been announced yet for the device, which we’re assuming will come unlocked to any carrier out of the box, but AT&T is selling it for $499.
