Jet Set Radio arrives on Android and iOS with virtual controls and a high-definition overhaul

Jet Set Radio was one of the best games for the Dreamcast, and with Sega’s new mobile focus, it is again becoming one of the best games for Android and iOS. Launching today for $4.99, and coming in at just over half a gigabyte, Sega is not skimping on any of the important feature of the game.

The game also had one of the best soundtracks of its time, and the Japanese-flavoured environments and crazy-fast gameplay have translated really well to the small screen. You can also use your camera to spray “tags”, one of the best aspects of the original, and the environments look far better than the original thanks to a high-definition graphical overhaul.

Considering the game was one of the main reasons I kept my Dreamcast alive and kicking well into the 2000’s, I expect to get a lot of play out of this one.

Keep in mind the game is nearly 600MB, so make sure you have a WiFi connection handy. There’s also some talk that Nexus devices such as the Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 10 are having some trouble running the game, so I’d recommend keeping that 15-minute refund window handy in case it doesn’t load. Or wait until they release a patch.
