SaskTel goes live with LTE


SaskTel has been releasing LTE-capable devices for a number of months. This was all a lead up to their inevitable LTE network launch, which was originally targeted to go live late 2012. Today, however, is a new day and LTE speeds are running through SaskTel’s coverage area.

In a press release SaskTel announced that LTE speeds could “reach speeds of 100 Mbps,” but you’ll probably see it average out around 20 Mbps to 30 Mbps, is currently available in Regina, Saskatoon, Clavet, Dundurn, Langham, Lumsden, Martensville, Osler, Pense, Vanscoy, Warman, and White City. In addition, SaskTel will continue expanding their LTE coverage this year and invest another $5.2 million go live in Dalmeny, Balgonie, Estevan, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Prince Albert, Swift Current, Weyburn and Yorkton.

The LTE-enabled devices that SaskTel currently have in their lineup are the LG Optimus G, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy Rugby LTE, Samsung ATIV S, Novatel MC679, iPhone 5 and the upcoming BlackBerry Z10.
