Next-gen Lumia 928 could debut in April with metal construction and Xenon flash

lumia920review-5While this purported device doesn’t impact Canadians directly, sources revealed to The Verge that Verizon will release the so-called Lumia 928 in April. What is relevant to Canadians, however, is that the future of Nokia’s Lumia designs and intentions are laid out on the page: aluminum construction, improved PureView camera, a lighter and thinner body.

According to the source, the Lumia 928 will come with a 8MP PureView sensor with optical image stabilization but will improve on the 920 by bundling a combination Xenon/LED flash. The device will be lighter and thinner than the Lumia 920 as well, made from aluminum as opposed to polycarbonate. This aligns with rumours we’d heard previously about Nokia’s Lumia evolution.

Inside, the device will sport roughly the same specs as its international counterpart, including a 4.5-inch 1280x768px display, a 1.5Ghz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB storage and a HD front-facing camera.

The design is apparently reminiscent of the recently-announced Lumia 720 — though obviously taller and wider — which points to a slightly squarer future for the Lumia line.

We hope that Nokia has some great software to line up with the device’s launch. Perhaps Instagram?
