Rogers expands Smart Home Monitoring service in Ontario, releases BlackBerry 10 app

Rogers has expanded its Smart Home Monitoring service to customers in the Golden Horseshoe, includingĀ Oakville, Lincoln, West Lincoln, Grimsby, Hamilton and the Greater Hamilton area,Ā Burlington, Niagara Falls, Thorold, Pelham, Niagara-on-the-Lake, St. Catharines, Wainfleet, Welland, Fort Erie and Port Colborne.

The smartphone-enabled service allows users to remotely turn on lights, monitor doors and temperatures and communicate with connected appliances. Much of the marketing campaign centres around peace of mind — watching your kids on cameras installed in the house; adjusting the thermostat from the office; checking carbon monoxide levels, etc. — and the service can be used for security, convenience or both.

The service offers apps on iOS, Android and BlackBerry 10 and costs between $19.99 and $49.99 per month depending on which features you want enabled.
