Flipboard is awesome. Flipboard announced that they have over 50 million users and subsequently released version 2.0 of their iPhone and iPad app. The most notable change is to the UI, plus the ability for everyone to their create their own content (magazines).

The app, as usual, has a beautiful layout and gives you control on how to view or share magazines you like, or the ones you create (via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram etc). They’ve adopted a new “+” button that gives you the power to create media. In a similar way to Pinterest, you start clipping article of interest into your new magazine – the ability to search is now easier as the search bar is more prominent. Once you name and save your new magazine it gets “flipped” into the “By our Readers” section where others can view (there’s the option to keep it private) and share it via social networking sites. Flipboard has also integrated all the comments that you would normally see on Facebook, Twitter, etc within your magazine, so you basically never have to leave the Flipboard app.

The company has also brought Etsy into the mix. This allows you to embed cool products into your new magazine, plus gives readers the option to shop directly within the app with the “buy” button. Flipboard stated that an Android version is coming soon.
