Google Translate isn’t the most high-profile of the company’s apps, but for frequent travellers and lovers of language it can be a huge convenience.

The issue with Translate up ’til now is that it’s relied on an internet connection for most of its work. This precluded the use of the service if overseas without a local SIM card or roaming package. Now, for users running Android 2.3 and above, you can download up to 50 offline dictionary packs. For Holo-styled app is easy to use and attractive, and also supports voice input in many native tongues, so you don’t have to spend time spelling out your inquiries.
