Microsoft is on a roll this week. After updating Skype for Android to version 4.0, it is making version 2.0 of its OneNote suite for iPad, iPhone and Android available for download.

The new version consolidates the feature set and design of the popular note-taking and mind-mapping utility across platforms, and introduces rich text formatting for the iPad. Microsoft has been pushing OneNote on its Windows platforms — phone and desktop — for some time, and unlike its Office suite has gone the freemium route on this one.

Version 2.0 improves formatting consistency across devices — notes will show up looking the same viewed on a desktop, tablet or smartphone screen — and iPhone and Android devices can read rich text.

The interface has also been spruced up a little, with a set of icons located on the bottom for easy navigation.

Of course, Microsoft is pushing OneNote on its existing Office 365 and SkyDrive Pro users, so integration with those services has been tightened up a lot. While OneNote on a smartphone is still meant more for consumption, both the iPhone and iPad, along with Android devices, have been thoroughly improved.

Microsoft recently brought Office Mobile to iOS devices for those with an Office 365 subscription.
