One of the major reasons that attributed to Bell’s profitable quarter was the increased data usage. Apart from customers using their smartphones to surf the web, view pictures, visit various social networks, and stream videos, some users accessed shows on Bell’s growing Mobile TV serivce. It’s currently unknown how many Mobile TV customers Bell has, but the goal is to acquire over 1 million “by end of 2013.”

Bell has added yet another 24-hour news channel to their growing list of stations. BBC World News on Bell Mobile TV is now available and brings popular international news programs such as GMT, HardTalk and World Business Report. This inclusion gives customers a total of seven 24/7 news channels: CTV News Channel, BNN, CBC News Network, Bloomberg TV, NDTV 24/7 and RDI. Bell Mobile TV costs $5/month for 10 hours of viewing.
