Samsung Galaxy Mega launching in Canada ‘in the coming weeks’

We’ve known for a while that the Samsung Galaxy Mega would be making an appearance on several of the Canadian carriers lineup. Today, Samsung announced that interested Canadians will be able to ‘Live Large with the Samsung GALAXY MEGA’ and declared it’ll be available in the coming weeks – ‘just in time for back to school.” Personally, I didn’t think the 6.3-inch Mega was targeted for the back-to-school crowd, but apparently it’s “the back to school accessory of choice.”

There’s no insight on prices, or confirmed carriers, but we know that Rogers, Bell and TELUS will all launch the LTE-enabled 6.3-inch Android phablet. The Galaxy Mega has a 6.3-inch 720p display, powered by Android OS 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, 1.7Ghz dual-core processor, 16GB internal memory and holds up to 64GB with a microSD card, 1.5GB RAM, 3,200 mAh battery, 8MP camera and a 1.9MP front-facing camera.

A previous doc we leaked online showed Rogers releasing the Mega in early September.

“We are proud to introduce Canadians to the GALAXY MEGA – a device that will truly enable them to live large,” said Paul Brannen, Vice President Enterprise Business Division Samsung Electronics Canada Inc. “At Samsung, we have worked hard to ensure that we offer Canadians a broad variety of high quality mobile devices designed to meet their individual needs – which is why we are so excited to add the GALAXY MEGA to our line up.”

Update: Rogers and TELUS have confirmed they will be carrying the Galaxy Mega.
