Nokia EVP says Instagram is coming to Windows Phone

Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, is a popular picture and video sharing app that has over 130 million active users. Instagram is currently available via the web, or as a mobile app on the iPhone and Android devices.

Instagram declared back in June that they only go ‘where the growth is’ and there’s no immediate plan to officially bring the app to either Windows Phone or BlackBerry – although BlackBerry 10 users can unofficially port the Android version on their device. There might be a glimmer of hope for Windows Phone users as Chris Weber, Nokia EVP of Nokia Global Sales and Marketing, has apparently gone on record and said that the app is en route. In an interview with the Bangkok Post, Weber was quoted as stating “the popular photo-sharing app Instagram will be added to Windows [Phone].”

There’s no word on timing, or confirmation from Instagram, but if true it’s a good sign. The company recently announced over 16 billion photos and 5 million videos have been uploaded.
