Leaked photos of Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD refresh reveal design overhaul

Amazon’s upcoming Kindle Fire refresh is coming soon, and BGR has received some exclusive high-resolution photos of the 7-inch slate.

According to the leaked photos, this year’s model will be a significant upgrade, both to the chassis and internal specifications. An inwardly-curving back cover looks to give the impression of thinness, while a simple facade promises a 1920×1200 pixel IPS display within.

Stereo speakers have been added to the top of the device, while the power and volume buttons appear flush with the inlay.

BGR previously released the 2013 Kindle Fire HD specs, which includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16-64GB of storage, dual-band Wireless-AC, and a forked version of Android 4.2.2.

Considering Amazon now sells the Kindle Fire HD in Canada, and the upcoming products, which reportedly includes a Retina-busting 8.9-inch version, compete in price with the Nexus 7 and 10, it will be interesting to see which one wins the holiday battle later this year.
