Here’s how ads will look on your Instagram feed

Earlier this month, Instagram, which is owned by Facebook, declared that ads will be coming to your feed. They stated that in order to grow “into a sustainable business” they needed to generate some revenue and their aim “is to make any advertisements you see feel as natural to Instagram as the photos and videos many of you already enjoy.”

Curious how they’ll eventually look on your feed? Instagram just posted a picture of what we can expect. Each of the ads will have the company name, along with a ‘Sponsored’ label attached to it. Overall, it looks clean, but the hashtags might eventually get messy. Instagram notes that they’ll “only show ads from businesses that are interesting to you…and will use information about what you do on Instagram and Facebook.” The first partners are Adidas, Ben & Jerry’s, Burberry, General Electric, Lexus, Levi’s, Macy’s, Michael Kors, PayPal and Starwood. There’s also a “…” button that allows users to hide ads or give feedback.

The ads will start showing up in the United States next week and there’s currently no plan for when Canadians will get bombarded; we’re still safe, for now.
