‘WOW! mobile boutique’ is a ‘new wireless retail opportunity’

A few weeks ago we let you know about an initiative that Rogers and TELUS were partnering up on called “WOW! Mobile.” This would see the carriers engage in a relationship to sell their devices and plans in over 100 new Wow! locations.  Confirmation of the ‘WOW! BOUTIQUE MOBILE’ name  was found via a filing at CIPO (Canadian Intellectual Property Office).

Today, we bring you a bit more news about Wow!

An internal memo we received reveals that “Rogers and all of our brands will be part of the new WOW! mobile boutique initiative, operated by Match Transact. WOW! mobile boutique locations will launch in mall-based kiosks across the country and will carry Rogers, Telus, Fido, Kodoo and chatr brands.”

As to when these will open, well the doc states that an official announcement “will be made shortly” about this “new wireless retail opportunity.” Seems like Match Transact will be handling the retail staffing portion, much like how GLENTel does with TBooth and WirelessWave, as all the current chatr kiosks will fold up and be rolled into the new WOW! mobile boutique locations. “Match Transact will be inviting all current chatr retail employees to be a part of the team that leads this new initiative.”

No other details, but “WOW! mobile boutique” is real and coming soon.

Update: It’s now official as a press release just came through the wire. “Match Transact will open WOW! mobile boutique locations in select markets in the near future.”
