Yahoo! Weather gets iPad edition, makes even the snow more inviting

Until today, Yahoo! had a nice little weather app for iPhone and Android; now, it has become a nice big weather app for the iPad.

One of the most striking weather apps on the market, Yahoo! Weather sources images from Flickr pools of the various cities on which it reports, and obtains weather information from The Weather Underground, one of the fullest and most accurate weather stations around.

The iPad edition doesn’t stray far from the initial design, though it does show more information in portrait mode than its phone counterpart. Users can see a 5- or 10-day forecast along with precipitation expectations, gorgeously-animated sunrise and sunset charts, wind and cloud reports and a radar map divided into wind, heat and satellite overlays.

The free app unfortunately doesn’t shy away from promoting other Yahoo! services in the left-side navigation menu, but otherwise is free of ads.
