Good news for BlackBerry shareholders today. According to a press release, the Waterloo-based company has appointed John Sims to lead their Enterprise Services Business. Sims’ previous gig was President of SAP’s Mobile Services business and his official title at BlackBerry is President of Global Enterprise Services.

John Chen, Executive Chair and CEO of BlackBerry, stated, “I am pleased to welcome such a seasoned executive as John to BlackBerry to help lead our key business operations through our ongoing reorganization and transition. His extensive experience in transforming businesses, redefining brands and motivating teams will be a tremendous asset to BlackBerry as we reshape the Company to be more nimble and focused… John will be central to all of those efforts.”

In an open letter, Chen declared that their core focus is solely on the enterprise market, noting, “We’re going back to our heritage and roots – delivering enterprise-grade, end-to-end mobile solutions. As we refocus back to our roots, BlackBerry will target four areas: handsets, EMM solutions, cross-platform messaging, and embedded systems.”
