Airbnb waiving service fees until December 30th for Toronto residents affected by ice storm

Another company is stepping up to help those affected by the Ontario ice storm. Airbnb, a startup that connects homeowners with travellers, is waiving service fees between December 23rd and December 30th for people living in Toronto.

Those with power and a place to crash can advertise their homes for free, while those looking for shelter can do the same.

Right now, there seems to be 30 places listed at no cost, and the number should go up as the deal spreads.

Airbnb is a San Francisco-based startup that has brought together 9 million travellers across 500,000 listings in 192 countries. This latest gesture may not seem like much, but if it can provide a family with a warm place to stay over Christmas, that’s one less to worry about. Airbnb has apps for Android and iOS, both of which support hosting and booking.
